Pat has been faithfully teaching JoAnne how to read for the last 9 months. JoAnne's desire is to read God's Word and communicate by letter with her grandchildren. When I snapped the photo, she was reading a passage from the Bible, and at our celebration it was happily announced that she wrote a letter to her granddaughter.
Praise the Lord that Georg arrived safely home from Europe on Monday and that he had a blessed time with mission friends and family. Below is a pictorial review of his trip. Enjoy!

On Saturday, January 19, Nathan Ritchie and Starla Adams (whose family we know through homeschooling and being in the Tulsa area) were joined in covenant marriage. We thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the God-honoring wedding and meeting many friends at the reception. Click on the photo below for more pictures Peter took!

This afternoon, we were able to chat with Daddy over Skype. Uncle Hermann, Aunt Nisha, and Cousin Shannon also had their turns at the microphone. It was a fun time, and we hope to do it again.

Praise the Lord that Daddy arrived safely in Germany this morning!
Our beloved Daddy will be boarding a plane in Dallas this afternoon. At 4:00, he will be taking off for Germany, Lord willing. While in Europe, he will attend the commissioning of two new LEI missionaries headed for India, and will spend time with family and friends.
Pray for:
-travel mercies
-smooth logistics
-special times with family and friends
-a God-honoring commissioning service

Read the best New Year's Resolutions I've ever read here. I appreciate how those resolutions really keep the Lord as the focus, rather than our own feel-good-about-ourselves motives.
Spurgeon gave a New Year's sermon and wrote a New Year's benediction which you may be interested in reading. If you're not familiar with the Resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, do familiarize yourself with them, as they are noble goals to strive for.
