Learning to Read
Pat has been faithfully teaching JoAnne how to read for the last 9 months. JoAnne's desire is to read God's Word and communicate by letter with her grandchildren. When I snapped the photo, she was reading a passage from the Bible, and at our celebration it was happily announced that she wrote a letter to her granddaughter.
It requires humility to admit that you cannot read and seek assistance in learning, which JoAnne did. The delight on her face when receiving a Bible in recognition of her accomplishments spoke of deep love for God. How many of us hunger and thirst for the Word of God that the thought of reading from it brings delight to our souls?
Pat spent countless hours patiently teaching JoAnne to read. Her dedication and attitude spoke of love for God in helping one of His children in her walk with Him. JoAnne hopes to be blessed by another kind teacher after her move to Kansas. Would we be willing to serve the Lord and another person by the tedious task of teaching reading?
