Firestarters
As winter is over, and the need for a fire (at least in Oklahoma) is finished for now, it is time to plan for next year's winter. Besides storing wood, collecting firestarters is an important consideration. Some friends of ours told Mommy how to create firestarters from common household items. Here is the recipe:
HOMEMADE FIRESTARTERS
empty egg cartons
lint from your dryer (you may add small amounts of leftover scraps of cloth from sewing and used matches)
used candles, inexpensive candles/wax from thrift stores
large aluminum can
pot of water
Place the candles/wax into the aluminum can. Set the can into the pot of water and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, fill the egg cartons with lint.
When the wax has melted, pour it into the egg cartons, saturating/covering all the lint. Let cool.
