On the Far Side of Liglig Mountain and Tom and Cynthia Hale
Years ago, our family reading project was On the Far Side of Liglig Mountain – The Adventures of an American Family in Nepal. We have begun and not completed many books, but this one was captivating enough that we finished it. Mommy and Daddy especially were able to relate to many of the experiences of the Hales. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend adding On the Far Side of Liglig Mountain to your library, and reading it aloud as a family. You will not be bored!
On Tuesday night, Mommy and I had the privilege of meeting Tom and Cynthia Hale. They were driving through Tulsa, and took time for a meeting at the Taylor's home. Mr. and Mrs. Hale are delightful company and, as is common among missionaries, we have mutual friends and experiences. Components of the evening were: enjoying a Nepali meal cooked by Mrs. Taylor, hearing a short life history of the Hales, learning insights into ways cross-cultural ministry should and should not be done, strategizing about reaching out to 120,000 Bhutanese refugees (ethnic Nepalis) who are being deported to the West from UN camps over the course of 3 years (many are coming to the US), and praying.

Mrs. Taylor's Nepali cooking is delicious!

Mr. Hale kindly signed our copy of On the Far Side of Liglig Mountain.
