Ana Marie’s 21st Birthday
On Friday, the 25th, my coworkers at LEI celebrated my birthday with cheesecake.
On the morning of the 26th, my real birthday, Mommy and I attended a ladies brunch and learned more about herbs.
In the afternoon, we drove to Jenks, a suburb of Tulsa, to visit an herb and plant fair. We weren't there very long, but did purchase a few new plants for our herb garden, which Mommy is enthusiastically developing.
We passed some quaint houses during our walk in Jenks.
From the Herb Fair, we drove to the riverwalk in Jenks. There were many vendors and people in the area, and it was beneficial to discover that there is a little more to do around Tulsa than I had previously thought
.
From the riverwalk, we began the drive home. Daddy surprised me by driving in to the Bangkok Restaurant on the way (Mommy suggested going there, so credit also goes to her). We enjoyed a scrumptious Thai buffet.
At home, we celebrated with homemade cake and a movie. Mommy had kindly fulfilled my request for a Mocha Cream Torte.
We then watched Swiss Family Robinson, a free rental from Blockbuster. It is the story of a family who experiences a shipwreck and then works together to survive on an island. I ended up disappointed by some unnecessary scenes and unexpected sub-plot, but did appreciate the depiction of a family working together during trying times.
As Paul Stefan is quick to remind those who have birthdays, it is by God's grace alone that I have lived another year. Thanks be to the Lord! And thank you to my family who helped make my birthday special!
I will close this post with a quote which expresses very well a topic which should be on our minds frequently, not just on birthdays.
"A life once spent is irrevocable.
It will remain to be contemplated through eternity….
Let us, then, each morning,
resolve to send the day into eternity
in such a garb as we shall wish it to wear forever.
And at night let us reflect
that one more day is irrevocably gone,
indelibly marked."

Happy Birthday Ana Marie! Sounds like you had a great day together as a family.
Excellent quote. A very serious reminder to redeem my time today. Thanks.

Hello, I’m from the CollegePlus! forums and was just looking around. It’s nice to get to know a little about you and your family. I liked how you honored your mother on Mother’s day with that picture and post. As for this post, I thought that was definitely one diverse cake you had.
Also, my family originally hails from around Tulsa, OK, although my parents moved to Memphis, TN before they had me. We still have most of my Mom’s family living over there and will be visiting later this year. Oklahoma, the land of the plains!
